Which Option Is Right for Me?
LEVEL 1: BEGINNERS COURSE
Designed for complete beginners with little or no experience. You’ll learn the essential foundations of barbering through step-by-step demonstrations and practical training, including scissor work, clipper control, blending and styling. Once completed, you’ll be ready to progress into Level 2.
LEVEL 2: BARBER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
Designed for developing barbers who already understand the fundamentals and are ready to progress. Over 12 weeks, you’ll build confidence and consistency through live-model training, educator demonstrations and supervised cutting. Training focuses on modern barbering techniques, consultations, fading, scissor work, styling and real-world shop experience.

WHICH COURSE SHOULD I START WITH?
If you have little or no barbering experience, start with our Level 1 Beginner Course.
If you already understand the fundamentals and are ready to develop your skills through live-model training and supervised cutting, the Level 2 Barber Development Programme is the next step.
DO I NEED ANY BARBERING EXPERIENCE?
No.
Our Level 1 Beginner Course is designed specifically for complete beginners and teaches the foundations of barbering from the beginning.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER LEVEL 1?
Students who complete Level 1 can progress into our Level 2 Barber Development Programme.
Level 2 moves beyond the fundamentals and focuses on developing confidence, consistency and real-world barbering ability.
WHAT IS THE LEVEL 2 BARBER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME?
Level 2 is a structured 12-week development programme for barbers who already understand the fundamentals.
Training includes live-model work, educator demonstrations, supervised cutting, consultations, fading, scissor work, styling and modern barbering techniques.
The full programme costs £900.
DO I NEED TO BRING A MODEL?
Yes.
A model is required for every Level 2 session.
Students should make every effort to source their own client. If you cannot find a model for a particular session, we will try to source one for you.
ARE PLACEMENT DAYS INCLUDED?
Level 2 students can access placement opportunities within the Kings environment as part of their development.
Placements are designed to help students gain experience around a working barbershop and build confidence beyond the classroom.
DO I NEED MY OWN BARBERING EQUIPMENT?
Yes.
Students should bring the equipment required for their training.
If you don't already have suitable equipment, Kings-approved student kits are available separately.
WILL I RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE?
Yes.
Students who complete their programme will receive a Kings Barber Academy certificate recognising their training and development.
DO I NEED A FORMAL QUALIFICATION TO BECOME A BARBER?
No formal qualification is required to work as a barber.
Our focus is on developing the practical ability, confidence, professionalism and experience required to work effectively behind the chair.
HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE IN EACH CLASS?
We deliberately keep classes small so our educators can properly observe your work and give direct feedback.
Our Level 1 Beginner Course is limited to four students per intake.
WHERE DOES THE TRAINING TAKE PLACE?
All in-person training takes place at Kings Barber Academy in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.
Training is delivered inside the Kings environment by working barbers and educators.
CAN I PAY FOR LEVEL 2 IN INSTALMENTS?
The Level 2 Barber Development Programme costs £900.
